Mary Scirè is an abstract artist working in acrylic and mixed media. She says, “I identify with the freedom that abstract representation offers the artist in capturing the essence of being by allowing that expression to evolve spontaneously with no predetermined destination. The ever-changing ebb and flow of color, line, and texture suits my personality.”

Mary is active in a number of arts organizations including the Frederick Arts Council and the Delaplaine Arts Center. She received her bachelor’s degree in archaeology and art history as well as her master’s degree in humanities from Hood College. As an art history instructor, her focus included prehistoric through pre-renaissance art, a focus which sparked an appreciation for minimalist, symbolic representation.
