EXHIBITS & EVENTS

DISTRICT Arts is pleased to present the works of Kelly Scudieri.  For her exhibition at DISTRICT Arts, Scudieri has created a site specific installation that includes giclée reproductions of her painting “Gravity,” currently on three-year loan to the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka, as well as a retrospective that exemplifies her evolution in oils, mixed media, illustration and digital art.

An opening reception with the artist will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 5 – 7pm.

All works are for sale.

Kelly Scudieri’s figures stare back at you unabashedly, with soul-revealing eyes, often surrounded by what at first glance appears to be an arbitrary environment. Combining realism and surrealism, her characters, surrounded in majestic color studies, come to life.

In Kelly’s words, “The mystery is a part of the beauty of the art. It’s not so much about ‘who’ specifically these characters are as to the human complexities they represent.”

Scudieri is a graduate of Shepherd University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Art. After 13 years dedicated to the mental health field, she delved full time into her art in 2003 and was received graciously.

In 2019, Kelly’s painting “Gravity” was selected by the Art in Embassies program (AIE) to be on loan for three years at the US Embassy in Sri Lanka.

Scudieri resides in Shepherdstown WV with her husband Scooter Scudieri, daughter Sophia Adara Scudieri and their dog Bowie.

This exhibition is free and open to the public. All are welcome.
