|MORE WORK BY THIS ARTIST|
Joseph Craig English has been a full time professional artist since 1970. He continues to experiment with the silkscreen process, hand cutting lacquer stencils, custom mixing oil paints and printing them on to acid-free rag paper. Lately his experimentation has included digital painting which mimics his screenprints but allows him a broader color palette and more intricate interpretations.
He characterizes his work as “vividly portraying contemporary America.” His work is charged with intense color and is upbeat and happy. He portrays the everyday landmarks we often ignore because they’ve become so familiar to us.

The artist was introduced to silkscreen printing in his ninth grade art class. This introduction would open the door to a lifetime career as a printmaker and artist. He graduated from the School of Art at VCU in Richmond and lost no time getting his career underway.
He and his wife purchased a home in the historic community of Washington Grove, Maryland and designed and built a studio where he works today.
Early on, Joseph Craig English took his brightly colorful work to the streets. Since 1972 he has been showing and selling his work throughout the country.
Most of all, he enjoys the time he spends in the studio creating new work.
