Catherine says, “I began experimenting on canvas with some of the decorative plaster I had left over from painting jobs and developed a technique and style using decorative plaster as my medium.
“I’m always trying to see what I can do with this medium. It must be applied with trowels and scrapers. Brushes won’t work unless it’s for very fine line detail. I’ve found that I can do just about anything I want as long as I work with the plaster and not against it’s nature. I feel that my paintings are unique not only because of the material I use but also because 99% of them are done without a single brush stroke.”
