Vian says, “I consider each of my paintings as a visual poem: a poem of love, a poem of hope, a poem of melancholy – poems that depict and capture expressions. My aim with my artwork is to to transcend the viewer into another realm – a thoughtful and intellectual realm.”

Vian Shamounki Borchert’s expressionistic and abstracted art illustrates a poetic mood and a thoughtful journey in the world of painting.
She is an award winning contemporary artist who has shown in many group and solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. The National Gallery of Art in Amman, Jordan has her artwork in their permanent collection. Vian is a graduate from The Corcoran College of Art and Design at the George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
Vian’s art has been on exhibit in prestigious places such as the United Nations General Assembly, “Art Basel Miami Beach”, and at galleries throughout the world in places such as: NYC, Washington DC, Virginia, Los Angeles, Wiesbaden, Amman, Rome, London, Dubai, and Manchester, among many others.
Her artwork has also been featured in many publications such as The Washington Post, The Town Courier, Culture Spot MC, The Huffington Post, The Gazette, The Georgetowner, DC Modern Luxury magazine, NPR’s Art Beat, “Aesthetica” magazine, “Maniera District” magazine and others.
Vian is also an art teacher. Borchert currently teaches art classes for adults in Painting: Acrylic Painting, Watercolor Painting and Drawing at The Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park, Maryland, USA.
